FLOORWORK

This class will introduce some exercises that combines release with control, efficient use of weight to enable movement as well as getting comfortable with going in and out of the floor. The principles will then be combined into a phrase that takes the body into various planes in space in an unrestrained yet sensitive manner.

TECHNIQUE THROUGH IMPROVISATION

This workshop will explore the integration of mind and body, and improvisation and technique.

Through a series of images and cues we remind ourselves of our joy in movement, encouraging deeper awareness and sensitivity and inviting our bodies to embrace more possibilities in range, speed, power and dynamics. Class will culminate in a movement phrase and/or fun and games.

CONTEMPORARY BALLET

Rooted in ballet fundamentals, this class combines the precision and control in ballet with the release and formlessness in contemporary dance to create a movement phrase. Class will start with barre work, followed by some structured improvisation exercises and will end with a short movement choreography.

CATCHING EPHEMERALITY

This workshop is focused on creating, staying in and flowing through shiok physicalities in movement. You will be given simple tasks and be challenged to grow these into more complicated sequences.

CONSCIOUSNESS

This workshop reintroduces you to your body by guiding you through a series of exercises that works through your inhibitions to find new movement pathways and connect deeper into your consciousness. Through exploring different tasks, you will build a personal improvisation score at the end of the workshop.

This class will begin with floor exercises and progress to centre work and travelling combinations. It will then lead to a movement phrase that focuses on circularity - finding ease of movements and effective energy transfer through circular pathways.

Learn a short movement phrase choreography that works on fundamentals as well as discover new possible movement patterns. Find release in control and control in release as you move between spaces within your body and across physical space. Incorporate your personal expression within the structure to make it your own!

HONING WEIGHT AWARENESS

This workshop will work on enhancing weight awareness and using this awareness to increase our range and dynamics. All participants will be required to bring 2 hand held objects of similar weight, for example 2 water bottles. These will only be used for some parts of class which will include guided improvisation leading into phrase-work. The objects should be heavy enough that you are able to feel their weight but also allow you to move without strain.

MOVEMENT EXPLORATION: 

INSIDE-OUT

The workshop is about finding possible ways of moving your bodies through physical sensation and discovering the motivation of movements other than habitual ways that you are used to. The facilitation of the session will be improvisation driven, with individual’s desire in searching for alternative moving experience.

LYRICAL CONTEMP

This class takes influence from ballet, hip hop and contemporary dance genres, focusing on texture and musicality by exploring the relationship between music and movement. It consists of warm up, short exercises, and a movement choreography at the end.

IMPROVISATION & FLOORWORK

This class will begin by leading participants through a series of improvisation cues, tasks, and imagery to bring the body into a state of awareness and sensitivity. The second part of class will focus on the body's relationship to the floor, exploring coordination and the mechanics which allow the body to move in, across and out of the floor with ease and efficiency.

Class/ Workshop Duration

All classes/ workshops are 2 hours long. Do arrive 15 mins earlier for temperature-taking.

We will not allow refund. However if you are unable to attend but manage to find someone to take your place, do inform us in advance.
